Tighten cable retainer -arrow- to rear of alternator in 12 o'clock position. When doing this, note the following:ĭrive threaded sleeves -A- about 4 mm in direction of -arrow- out of alternator housing. Unscrew wiring retainer -arrow- from alternator. Remove securing bolts of alternator -arrows. Remove tensioning element together with lifting eye -1- out of vehicle. Remove securing bolts from tensioning element -arrows.
Lock tensioning element using locking pin -T10060 A. Release tension of poly V-belt by swivelling tensioning element in direction of -arrow- using a 16 mm open-jaw spanner. Mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt. If the belt is installed in the wrong position or against direction of rotation, the belt will be destroyed! When installing, ensure correct fitting position and direction of rotation. Place activated charcoal filter -1- with connected hoses to one side.Ĭaution Before removing, mark the top side and direction of rotation of the poly V-belt. Pull activated charcoal filter -1- upwards out of fasteners -arrows. Unscrew B+ (battery positive) wire -arrow- from alternator. gr.24.ĭisconnect DF wire connector -1- and pull off protective cap -2.
Remove upper section of intake manifold → 4-cylinder injection engine (2.0 l direct injection engine)  Rep. Loosen spring-type clip -1- using spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024 A-.Ĭarefully lift up air filter housing out of vehicle as far as wiring allows.ĭisconnect connector -arrow- on rear of air filter housing. Pull air filter housing upwards on right-hand side out of rubber mounting -arrow. Remove securing bolt from air filter housing -arrow. Open retainer -arrow- on front of air filter housing and remove line -1. Loosen spring-type clip -arrow- from hose -1- using spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024 A. Unclip vacuum hose out of retainer -arrow. Pull engine cover panel upwards -arrows. Special tools and workshop equipment required
Caution When batteries are disconnected and reconnected, the procedure described in the workshop manual must be strictly observed → Chapter.
